One of the joys of being a photographer is giving the gift of photography. In this case my wife Nicole asked if I would be willing to do a mother and daughter photoshoot to her mom for Christmas. I thought that was a great idea for a gift that my mother-in-law Dottie would appreciate for years to come.
Of course, the middle of winter is not the most fun time to take photos outside, so we just waited for a nice day in June. There’s a really cool field not far from our house, surrounded by apartment complexes, but once you’re in it, it feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere. Our nephew Alden was visiting Grandma (Dottie) that week, so we managed to get him in a few pictures too.
Nicole also wanted to go to a greenhouse or nursery for some of the photos, so I called around to various greenhouses and eventually landed on Horrock’s, which is one of the most interesting and eclectic stores in Grand Rapids. Overall it was a great day with fun photos!
